Sister has been pushing the envelope of electronic music in a city that is pushing the envelope of electronic music for 9 years. Moreover, Sister has spent these 9 years working hard to help create a space for female artists in this industry. Although you may think that the concept of an "all-female crew" is a superfluous thing in this town, the moment you leave this city behind, it quickly becomes apparent that female artists are not treated/viewed as equals to their male counter parts. We still have a long way to go, which is baffling to me. i mean, when i listen to my Sisters:
Forest Green, Melyss, Seraphim, Amber, Audio Angel, J-Fi, Queen Agnes B, Polywog...

Have you heard these women perform? They will spin *anybody* under the table. They fucking rock so hard, it's mind-blowing!

Anyways, our annual drag event is a celebration of those 9 years of Sister SF: it happens to be the one occasion when we invite guys to perform at a Sister event, and they will do so in drag. To make it extra special, we are inviting one special female guest--one of our Sister NYC counterparts & good friend: DJ ICON!

Advice on finding house music for hula hoop instructional dvds?

I'm hoping for advice.

I am seeking original house music tracks (preferably without too many lyrics) which can be included in a hula hooping instructional dvd I am making. Happier, juicy, soulful house with elements of disco -- basically any house music that makes you smile widely and tap your foot and shake your head.

Do you have any sugggestions on royalty free sources of such groovy music, or have leads on any friends who produce house music who may be open to donating a song to this creative project. I don't have any cash, but I can give you a copy of the final instructional dvds and a handcrafted pro hoop when the project is done as well as credits on the dvd and links from the website.

DJ needed for benefit show at EL RIO in SF

My non-profit startup is having a benefit show at El Rio on November 10th starting at 9pm and I was hoping to get a DJ or two to spin between bands/acts. There will be probably two bands and one drag troupe. There will also be an MC.
Blue Star Builders, if you haven't already heard from me about it, is a group of queer women and transfolk looking to renovate/rebuild homes for older lesbian women in New Orleans. This is our first fundraiser.

so i need some advice on good female djs in sf. i am helping to put together a self produced show for ultra gypsy in march. there is this huge festival of middle eastern dancers coming and we are going to do a show called undulation, with the BEST dancers, not the housewives turned goddess types....and the troupe director jill wants to go with a pro female line up, etc....

goldilox can't do it. so don't say her, cause I know her already.

so there is Pia, Shanti...Donna Matrix, etc... but who else? I need help fast!

Hey all, what styles do you spin? Anyone have any mixes online they want to share with the tribe?

I spin a lot of stuff... I can't seem to pin myself down to one style because I love so many. I dig all kinds of house -- from progrssive to discobooty, am loving breaks, have just rediscovered my love for jungle/D&B, and also love the abstrakt, midtempo, and downtempo stuff. If it's good, I'll find a way to play it!

No mixes to share right now, but working on it...
